JCSPCA visit: ‘Pedaling4Paws’ cycles through Watertown

The animal advocacy group known as “Pedaling4Paws” cycled into Watertown over the weekend heading for the Jefferson County SPCA on the final leg of their 5-day journey.
After being greeted by enthusiastic SPCA staff and enjoying breakfast, they met briefly with the Executive Director, Doug Marlow. The group “pawsed” for a mini photo-op where their love for animals shined through in a big way as they collected sloppy puppy kisses and happy tail wags before pedaling away to complete their quest in St. Lawrence County. The group’s progress could be tracked via their Facebook page and followers were encouraged to share their thoughts.
Based in PA. the cycling enthusiasts’ annual trek begins in West Chester on the last Tuesday of June, taking them roughly 525 miles through twelve counties, before concluding in Ogdensburg at the St. Lawrence Valley SPCA. Along the way participants visit a number of SPCA’s and raise funds that are donated to local animal shelters. The ride also calls attention to the needs of companion animals and the tireless work of advocates for those who have no voice of their own. The group has a goal of $20,000 for 2013. The money will be donated to animal shelters that are participating in the event.
